Just last year, A3 sedans appeared in the US market as a part of A3’s third generation. These are going to be joined by a new plug-in hybrid, A3 e-tron hatchback which will start as a 2015 year model, 2015 Audi A3 Hybrid, and will offer even better fuel efficiency, paired with hatchback’s versatility and sporty handling.
Styling – Changes and Description
When it arrives, A3 hybrid will share design layout with the rest of the lineup which includes sedans. Of course, e-tron’s body will be different and will have different rear end, but with same big oval tail-lights. Up front, big trapezoid grille and angular headlights will leave no space for the lower air intake.
Interior doesn’t actually offer luxury car’s cabin adornments, especially on entry grades, but is borderline luxurious to say the least, especially in Prestige trim. Full leather seats can be expected across the lineup, and so can soft-touch materials with chrome accents. Dashboard is entirely made of black plastic, and that’s where A3’s luxury looks bleakest. However, dash itself is nicely crafted and shaped, and it offers floating touch screen display which retracts into the dash when the car is inactive. Basically, only real difference between standard models and plug-in hybrid, inside is the power meter gauge which replaces the tachometer.
Safety is much more advanced than in other compact cars, but Audi is a German manufacturer and you just expect a lot more from them. Beside all standard safety features which include airbag system, stability controls and anti-lock brakes, you’ll also get a rearview camera, blind spot monitors and adaptive cruise control as standard. Advanced tech package will add active lane assist and adaptive cruise control with stop and go.
2015 Audi A3 Hybrid Engine range and MPG
This 5-door compact will be offered in the same three trim levels, conventional models are offered: Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige. Under the hood, you’ll find an efficient 1.4L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and an electric motor with battery pack of still undisclosed specifications. However, e-tron’s powertrain packs 150 hp in engine and 102 hp in electric motor which will together raise more power than any of convential models.
Fuel economy ratings are going to hit 130 mpg estimated with only electric motor on. Moreover, A3 e-tron will also give you 31 mile of all-electric range, and should be able to drive you for as much as 550 miles when petrol engine is activated.
2015 Audi A3 Hybrid Price and Release date
Price tag of a plug-in hybrid will be much higher than those of conventional models, and depending on a trim level of your choice, be prepared to pay between $40,000 and $50,000. A3 wiil be available in start of 2015. Also, in that time, we will know a lot of more about price details including equipment and options. But, price will be depending on location and countries where will be selling.
2015 Audi A3 e-tron hybrid will further bolster already impeccable compact line of the German manufacturer. Fuel economy ratings will be even better than they are now, but the price tag might be a bit too much for the most people.
