As a mainstream mid-size car, 2015 Honda Accord is offered a few ways. Beside hybrid and plug-in models, conventional Accords come with sedan and coupe body styles. That’s pretty much everything you can think of and Japanese really deserve the plaudits here. New Accord coming with small changes and improvements.
2015 Honda Accord Hybrid Engine
Unlike the previous generation (2005-2007), this edition is more equipped with mechanical options. Petrol Accords have couple of powertrains to choose from. Base engine in both coupes and sedans is 2.4L I-4 which gives 185 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque. Stronger option comes exclusively in highest EX-L and Touring grades and consists of 3.5L V6 engine which puts up 278 hp and 252 lb-ft of torque.
Sedans are tied to 6-speed manual and CVT shifters in their 4-cylinder options, while V6’s get the 6-speed automatic transmission. Coupes follow the similar routine, while hybrids come exclusively with CVT gearboxes. They also have 2.0L I-4 engines and electric motors which together make 166 hp and 226 lb-ft of torque.
Design – Interior and Exterior
Accord doesn’t only perform, it also looks good. By looking at its front end fascia with slim grille and sharp angular headlights it is no wonder why that’s one of the best sellers in the US market. After an arching roof, Accord is finished with a sleek rear end with huge angular tail-lights.
The new 2015 Honda Accord Hybrid is more comfortable. Accord looks good inside too. There’s a choice between a cloth and leather seat upholstery in highest grades, while cabin is straightforward and without lavish adornments. There are some metallic accents here and there, but that’s about it. Curvy unconventional dash has a touch screen infotainment display which is available across most of the lineup. Four, six or seven speakers are also available, depending on a trim level, but Bluetooth streaming, USB port and Pandora compatibility are standard from the base models onwards. Accords come fitted with a rearview camera and lane watch blind spot display where they have the touch screen display and optional forward collision warning, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control up the ante in advanced safety feature category.
Even though Accords have very potent powertrains, they return surprisingly good fuel economy ratings. Leaders are hybrids and plug-ins which earn as much as 50 mpg in the city, but petrol engines are also solid. Base four cylinders are rated at 27/36 mpg with a CVT gearbox, while V6 engines get the figures of 21/34 mpg.
