Lexus’ RX lineup is a mid-size crossover group of luxury vehicles which are among Japanese manufacturer’s bread and butter models. 2015 year model of RX’s is carried over with slight alterations to its design, and so is RX 450h, a hybrid model. The new 2015 Lexus RX Hybrid starts with selling in fall this year.
Styling – Interior and Extwerior
Just like pretty much any Lexus, RX also offers sublime lines in its exterior design. Starting from front’s spindle grille and sharp angular headlights, and ending at the back where tailgate is divided in two by a sharp 45-degree angle, RX is stylish and mature vehicle with enough beauty to export. Rear pillars are little thicker for optimal rear visibility, but electronic features fix that.
RX’s interior is as luxurious as they come. Two-tone cabin color with leather upholstery all over and plenty of wood grain touches will give you the feeling you’re the king of the road. Dashboard is made of soft plastic and has unconventional design. Instrument panel is asymmetrical and has metallic glow and cluttered control layout which ruin the idyllic interior to some extent. Touch screen display is positioned above it, deeply inside its own cluster and covered by the dash’s bridge which is also arguable design choice. Gauges are specially made for hybrid versions of RX and have nice blue radiant glow. Rear seat entertainment system offers dual screens which are able to project their content independent of one another. There are ten standard airbags in all RX’s and you’ll also get electronic stability control, anti-lock brakes, hill-hold function, rearview camera which helps with rear visibility, radar sensors and many other active safety features.
The Engine range and Fuel Economy
The most fuel-efficient model in RX’s lineup offers you a choice between FWD and 4WD drivetrain config. They are both moved by a 3.5L V6 engine and an electric motor with total system output of 295 hp and 234 lb-ft of torque. CVT transmission is also standard and thanks to it, RX is always kept at high revs which make the engine a bit louder than it could be.
FWD models offer fuel economy ratings of 32 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, while 4WD ones lower commuting numbers by two points, and keep long haul numbers intact.
2015 Lexus RX Hybrid Price
Base model’s price starts at $47,445, and with 4WD upgrade costing $1,400, you’ll get all-wheeler for $48,845. However, optional equipment and additional luxury packages will raise the price considerably.
2015 Lexus RX 450h is a capable SUV which offers high luxury and functional interior with striking exterior design. Fuel efficiency is also very good for its size thanks to the hybrid powertrain and when all this is considered, RX 450h is one of the best available luxury mid-sizers around.
