Porsche Cayenne is a solidly built, sporty mid-size luxury SUV with plenty of trademark features of the German manufacturer. Even though Cayenne hybrid doesn’t return the best fuel efficiency in the lineup (thanks to the diesel model), it has impeccable acceleration and sportier feel thanks to it. New 2015 Porsche Cayenne Hybrid will be available in early 2015.
2015 Porsche Cayenne Hybrid Design and Options
2015 year models come out slightly refreshed and S-E hybrid will be no different. It’ll get new front end fascia with rectangular grille and new headlights, while its rear end will also get revised tail-lights and bumper.
Inside, every Cayenne is luxurious throughout and offers only the best available materials. You’ll still get alcantara leather seats and plenty of chrome, wood grain and carbon fiber accents combined with soft-touch plastic all over the cabin. There’s a lot of room up front, but second row suffers from the lack of space thanks to Cayenne’s sporty design. Dashboard and center stack are fashionably designed and divide the cabin in two. Above the shifter which is sutrrounded by metallic-glazed controls, you’ll find a 7-inch touch screen positioned between the couple of vertical trapezoid airvents.
With it, Cayenne’s driver and passengers will be able to enjoy the premium sound quality (courtesy of Burmester or Bose), and available 3D navigation and smart device connectivity. Rear seats have their own entertainment system consisting of twin 7-inch screens and a DVD player, with wireless infrared headphones. Beside standard safety features and a rearview camera, S-E hybrid also offers adaptive cruise control, hill descent control, lane change assist and speed-set control as advanced electronic safety features.
The Engine range and Performance
Cayenne’s hybrid model is branded as S-E Hybrid and stands in the middle of the lineup. Under its hood, you’ll find 3.0L supercharged V6 engine capable of developing 333 hp. Together with a 95 hp electric motor, Cayenne hybrid delivers a total of 416 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. Beside that, it packs a large 10.8 kWh lithium-ion battery which allows all-electric range. Transmission is 8-speed Tiptronic automatic, and with it and all aforementioned, Cayenne hybrid can achieve top speed of 151 mph and 0 to 60 time in 5.4 seconds which is great for both SUV and hybrid categories.
As already mentioned, S-E model doesn’t return the best fuel economy ratings in highway and overall categories, but does come with best commuting numbers at 20 mpg. 24 mpg on the highway rounds up the figures and gives 22 mpg of combined range.
2015 Porsche Cayenne Hybrid Price details
Cayenne S-E Hybrid will keep its price and will be available from $77,000 at least, while giving its owner lots of room to raise the price considerably with plenty of available upgrades.
