A mid-size luxury crossover built in Volkswagen’s Bratislava Assembly plant, Touareg offers abundance of luxury and powerful ride. It has all powertrain options you could have wished for, including a hybrid, and 2015 year model is being refreshed. Selling of the new 2015 Volkswagen Touareg Hybrid will be launched early 2015.
2015 Volkswagen Touareg Hybrid Engine
Touareg hybrid, offered in only one grade which can be customized by adding optional equipment is moved around by a supercharged 3.0L V6 engine and an electric motor system that together yield combined hybrid system power of 380 hp. Like any other Touareg, hybrid model also gets 8-speed automatic shifter with Tiptronic, dynamic shift program (DSP), and sport mode. 4WD drivetrain configuration is also standard across the lineup.
Styling – Inside and Outside look
New Touareg had gotten a new front end fascia with 4-stripe chrome grille and parallelogram headlights, while lower air intake remained the same. There’s a lot of chrome accents around its body, from scuff stripe to roof rails. Out back, Touareg has new wider look thanks to the big set of tail-lights and chrome bumper line.
Interior follows the lines found in any other Touareg’s model. Only real difference is in gauges especially designed for hybrid vehicle. Like any luxury car, this SUV also has abundance of leather, wood and metallic accents, coupled with soft-touch materials all over the cabin. Dashboard is neatly designed and doesn’t have any rough edges, even though it might seem busy at times. 8-inch color touch screen with 3D navigation and 60 GB hard drive sits in the middle of it, and below it, you’ll find wood-wrapped center stack with shifter, climate and audio controls, and couple of cupholders, just in front of the armrest.
Panoramic sunroof is standard and so are heated rear and front seats which also get 12-way power-adjustable and 4-way power lumbar support and memory. As far as safety goes, Touareg has nine standard airbags and all standard safety features you’ll be able to find. Advanced features are the area where it excels, as it has an area view monitor with four cameras, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitors, pre-crash accident-prep system and emergency braking system, among others.
2015 Volkswagen Touareg Hybrid Price
Fuel economy ratings are solid, but not best in lineup as hybrid returns the numbers of 20 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. If you want one of these, be prepared to pay $65,000 for it.
2015 Volkswagen Touareg hybrid received a facelift just like every other model in the lineup. It now has wider look, but generally keeps the old design. This luxury car offers everything you can wish for, but VW’s desire to have the hybrid in Touareg’s lineup is pretty much everything that keeps it going as clean diesel models offer much better fuel efficiency, and beside them, hybrids seem pointless.
