One of the very unusual SUVs is presented, new and very strange 2016 Kia Sorento X-Men. 2015 Australian Open has come to a close and special version of Kia Sorento couldn’t help Rafael Nadal in his quest for glory as his journey was unexpectedly ended in quarter finals.
Still, 2016 Kia Sorento X-Men remains, and the question most of us ask ourselves is: “What will happen to it?” Promo car probably doesn’t have a lot more to do. It will stick around before the premiere of X-Men: Days of Future Past on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD, but after that, it will be moved away and probably sold on some future auction.
Under the hood
2016 Kia Sorento X-Men is most likely powered by the strongest engine South Korean mid-size crossover/SUV has to offer. This means that under blackened hood of this cos-car, sits 3.3L V6 which is able to generate 290 hp and 252 lb-ft of torque. Moreover, it is mated to standard 6-speed automatic transmission, but whether it has front or optional all-wheel drive, we don’t know.
This very strange SUV hits max speed aroudn 155 mph, but, for only 6 seconds needs to reach 60 mph. For one SUV like X-man, these features are responsable. Unfortunately, there aren’t more details about performance, and the others information about features, safey equipment, till now. Because of this, new X-Men is promo vehicle.
Design – Interior and Exterior
Kia didn’t actually announce which of the X-Men heroes was used as a role model for the car, but judging by the look of it, there’s hardly anyone that couldn’t discern it was Wolverine. Sorento X-Men is painted in black and it offers some body graphics as well. This graphic is actually large letter X, stick upon its profile and bound in red. Otherwise, 2016 Kia Sorento X-Men executes pretty much the same body as any other model in the lineup, but differences are in additional accessories. First of all, special Sorento has different grille with large X below Kia’s oval badge.
Moreover, red-bounded foglight inlets are covered by chrome claws from up front, and these stretch all the way to the headlights. Another, even larger claw can be found out back where it encompasses the whole tailgate and half of rear window as well. Finally, Sorento X-Men is finished with peculiar roofline spoiler which resembles wolves ears thanks to its pointy sides.
Only lucky few have seen this promo vehicle’s interior since Kia still hasn’t given us the pictures. This makes us believe that 2016 Kia Sorento X-Men’s interior is actually unchanged in comparison to the interior of production models. It is, probably fitted with top tier upgrades and this means: premium Nappa leather seats, heated and ventilated front, and heated rear seats, 8-inch touch screen display with navigation, heated steering wheels, alloy pedals and many other borderline luxury options $41,300 Limited V6 model usually offers.
2016 Kia Sorento X-Men MPG and Price
Since it wasn’t meant to be driven, fuel efficiency of 18 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway isn’t really that important. Price of base model was already mentioned, but price of customization which makes this special promo car what it is, tends to raise the overall price tag considerably. When the time comes, this car will be sold for much more than it is worth.
2016 Kia Sorento X-Men is a not-for-sale promotional copy which debuted at this year’s first Grand Slam tournament in Melbourne. It is basically top model Sorento with vivid exterior design that can’t really make it to production. If you ask yourselves why, think about those claws upon its bumper and all will become clear.
