2016 Lexus RX450h Hybrid


Lexus company has unveiled a new luxury suv, named 2016 Lexus RX450h Hybrid. The Lexus RX basically started the luxury crossover-utility class when it first appeared back in 1998. Seven years later, it also became the first car in its class to be offered with a hybrid system.

The fourth-generation 2016 Lexus RX has been presented at this years New York Auto Show, and a hybrid model is again a part of the lineup. The new version will come with various improvements that include design, performance, and other significant upgrading.

The Engine range

Under the skin, the 2016 Lexus RX450h hybrid system is a carry on from the current model, and appears mostly unchanged. The new hybrid also comes equipped with a 3.5 l Atkinson-cycle petrol V-6, and the two-motor Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive system for powering the FWD applications. The V-6 and electric engine combination is capable of producing a total output of 305 hp, while the previous model produces 10 ponies less.

For the AWD an additional electric motor will be available, for powering the back wheels. On the other hand, the non-hybrid model, the 2016 RX 350 features an independent 3.5 l V-6 with the same output of 305, and is paired with a same 8-speed automatic transmission as the hybrid is.

Design – Exterior and Inside look

The new RX is a vehicle perfect for people who are searching for a mid-size SUV that comes with a superb quality, and is fun and easy to drive. Unlike the previous model and oversized SUVs available on the market, the 2016 Lexus RX450h is designed to have a proper moderate size, making it very comfortable, flexible and swift. The car has a sporty design, furthermore making the model compact, energetic and conservative.

The external look is perfectly matched with the redesigned front grill and upgraded LED powered headlights. Most of the parts are made of aluminum, meaning less weight, as well as better performance and fuel economy. Toyota has also improved the door skins, hood, and the tailgate in order to even more reduce the overall weight of the car.

Interior

The interior has also suffered some redesigning, in order to keep up with current Lexus design style, and that means that the new hybrid is coming with less timber trim and more technology features. The features include an optional head-up display and 12.3 inch screen in the front, and also a back-seat entertainment system with 11.6-inch screens fitted into the backs of the front headrests.

Furthermore, the new RX also comes equipped with the new Lexus Safety System+, which consists of several electronic aids, including Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Automatic High Beam, Pre-Collision System, and a Lane-Departure Alert. The RX will be available with seating for five passengers, but a 7-seat option will be offered later.

2016 Lexus RX450h Hybrid Price and release date

The 2016 Lexus RX 450h is expected to have a price of around $50,000 for the base model. The vehicle is expected to be available for buying by the end of this year, and when it does go out, the 2016 RX will be a flagship model for Lexus, since the current version makes almost a half of the Lexus’s sales in the U.S. market.
